Ticketmaster Restricts Ticket Sales for Green Day Concert in New Orleans

Ticketmaster has announced that ticket sales for the August 7, 2009 Green Day concert will be restricted to residents of Louisiana, Mississippi, southern Alabama, and the Florida panhandle. Residency is to be based on a purchaser's credit card billing address. Residents of other states who attempt to purchase tickets will have their orders cancelled and their credit cards refunded. To view the policy from the Ticketmaster website, click here .

This is not the first time Ticketmaster has restricted sales by geographic location. A similar policy sprung up for the Arizona Cardinals playoff game back in January. For the complete story on the Cardinals tickets, click here.

This policy affects the local economy by infringing on Louisiana's economic development and preventing out-of-state residents from having the ability to purchase tickets.

Now is the time to reach out to your customers and state legislators and let them know that allowing Ticketmaster to specify who gets to purchase tickets is bad for business and for the Louisiana economy.
