CT Bill Proposal Protects Consumer Resale Rights

The Connecticut General Assembly recently introduced a bill proposal aimed at ending the resale restrictions placed on ticket holders, creating greater transparency in the primary market, and prohibiting the use of software bots.

House Bill 5228 contains the following provisions:

- prohibits the application of a term or condition restricting or limiting the resale of tickets,
- prohibits venues from denying access to persons with resold tickets solely on the basis of the ticket having been resold,
- mandates that venues and primary sellers disclose ticket availability numbers to the Commissioner of Consumer Protection, and
- prohibits the use or sale of software bots.

The public hearing for HB5228 could happen as soon as next week, and the Better Ticketing Association is asking brokers to participate.
