Utah Proposes Scalping Prohibition

The state of Utah recently introduced House Bill 76, which prohibits the resale of tickets to sports or entertainment events for greater than face value, not including applicable taxes and a service charge not exceeding $10 or 15% of the price printed on the ticket.

The Better Ticketing Association asks that all Utah ticket brokers be aware of this legislation during the 2010 session. We will continue to monitor this and other potential bills that emerge during the legislative session.

Members interested in expressing their opinions about the bill proposal should contact their elected state officials.
