New York Resale Legislation Up in the Air

As negotiations regarding ticket resale in New York continue to transpire, disagreement exists amongst legislators, the Governor's Office, and various members of the ticketing industry on how to handle the issue of paperless ticketing.
The secondary ticketing industry has been urging New York's legislative leaders to adopt language that guarantees certain consumer protections under the law, including:

    - the right to freely transfer, gift, donate or resell purchased tickets

    - the choice to pick the type of ticket to purchase for an entertainment or sporting event

    - the ability to recoup financial losses caused by having tickets go unused

The Better Ticketing Association asks that all New York ticket brokers be aware of the expiration date of the current law and to keep watch for any breaking news on the resale and paperless ticketing situation. If you want to learn more about these events or wish to discuss potential actions you can take to become involved in the project, please contact Alex Ware by email at alex.ware@ticketnetwork.com or by phone at (860)870-3400x353.
